Happy 2011

OMG I thought the holidays would never freaking end this year lol. I love me some Christmas, but I think I started celebrating prematurely because I was so ready for January to get here.  I hope Santa was good to everybody. I think Mrs. Claus had an influence on what he brought me, another lovely Coach bag to add to my collection :) Helmet made out pretty good this year too. He had so much fun opening his toys. And I’m convinced after typing that sentence that I am humanizing my dog far too much lol. Happy 2011 everyone!

Here are a few photo highlights of our holiday:

Going Au Naturale

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Toms of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.

Anyone who knows me is aware that I am ridiculously gung-ho about using natural products. I’ve found that cutting out the products I was using with icky ingredients has been so beneficial. Cutting the sulfates in my shampoo, not applying paraben-packed makeup, steam cleaning instead of chemical cleaning.. all of it has paid off. So when I discovered the icky ingredients that were hiding in my tube of toothpaste, I was on a search for a healthier alternative.

And then I found Tom’s Of Maine natural toothpaste! Not only is Tom’s a safer way to brush, my teeth and gums have never felt better. My teeth have always been very sensitive, even when using toothpaste aimed at sensitive teeth. I’ve found that switching to Tom’s, my teeth are starting to become more and more tolerant of hot and cold foods. And did I mention it tastes GREAT?

If you’re looking for a natural toothpaste, I definitely recommend it. They are also giving away a $500 Target gift card through Twitter and Facebook, check it out here: That’s Wicked Fresh contest page. I just entered my wicked fresh moment “Taking a Vegas vacation and winning $50 on the penny slots!” So maybe that $50 will turn into a $500 gift card? Ya never know :)

It’s Vegas, Baby!

Why hello there buckaroos :)

I just realized I never blogged about our September Vegas vacation. We stayed at a ridiculously beautiful hotel, Aria. It’s brand new and located at the Las Vegas City Center near Bellagio. I HIGHLY recommend it! Our room was just stunning. They put a big touch-screen remote control by your bed that lets you control the TV, curtains, temperature, lights, music, etc. The TV says your name on the screen too lol. OH and when you walk into the room for the first time after checking in, you open the door and the curtains automatically open, the lights turn on, the TV comes on and music starts playing LOL it’s a trip! If I could envision what sleeping on an orgasm would feel like, this bed was exactly that. Literally THE softest, plushest bed I’ve ever slept in. Oh and thre is a mini fridge with a $20 “romance kit” that includes 2 condoms, lube and moist towelettes lmao.

While we were in Las Vegas we went on another one of those horrible time share presentations to get discounted show tickets. We did it last year and I don’t remember it being as bad.. it was BAD this time. They really try to guilt you into buying that shit. Anyhoo, we got some Criss Angel show tickets for taking the tour. If any of you are planning a Vegas trip anytime soon, please skip this show. It was so incredbly NOT worth it. We saw Lance Burton’s show at the Monte Carlo last year and it was 1831093x better. He drove a freaking car over the audience at the end for Christs’ sake. All Criss Angel did was disappear 40 times and fly some doves around the theatre.

We had better gambling luck last year too. I think we paid for the entire trip and then some. Yeah not so much this time lol :( Mike immediately lost $600 the first day and then decided he wasn’t gambling anymore the rest of the trip HAHA poor guy. But seriously I couldn’t win anything on the slots either! Last year I couldn’t LOSE. Booo. On our last day there we went to the PAWN STARS store which was awesome. Pics below! We went Labor Day weekend which was definitely not the best idea.. I’ll never be traveling on a holiday weekend ever again in my life lol. The plane was completely packed both ways.. so annoying I hate that. There is no point in getting there early to find a good seat when some stinky a-hole is forced to sit next to you anyways.

All in all it was a good trip. We went with some friends this time so that was fun. Pics below.. ciao!

Not to sound so cliche, but just say NO!

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my past. About the household I grew up in. Definitely not your typical childhood, as I was surrounded by drugs, lies and negativity at all times. I feel lucky that I didn’t fall into the same drug-induced path that my parents fell into. Now my best friend (since high school) works for a teen rehab facility and it ONLY serves young adults. An entire substance abuse rehabilitation center JUST for teens? That really blows my mind. Just looking at some random teen addiction statistics, it seems cigarettes are dropping off but pills and meth are rising:

“Nearly 1 in 10 high school seniors reported nonmedical use of Vicodin; 1 in 20 reported abuse of OxyContin.”

So if you think about it, at least one kid per classroom is abusing pain pills. It just seems like it’s getting harder and harder for teens to stay sober. Sure all young adults experiment with alcohol or even pot, and generally it’s harmless. But peer pressure and easy access combined with the glamourization of drug use in Hollywood is making it harder and harder to “just say no”. Growing up I was often in the party scene and was offered narcotics on a regular basis. I always carried my personal hate around for drug use because I witnessed first hand what it did to my family members. So I never had a problem saying no.. and I said no every single time.

As time goes on, more and more teen drug rehab facilities are popping up all over the country. Do you find that scary or reassuring?

My Lunch Hour Mini-Getaways

Thanks for the post from Kelley Cline

Working from home, I still need to take a lunch hour to refresh myself and regroup. Since my husband also is home for lunch, most of the time we spend it together. In this tough economy, we don’t eat out very often–maybe once a week if we plan for it. My lunch hour is often a good time to run errands, like going to the post office or to the grocery store for something I need to help us get through until the next big shopping trip. But mostly, my hubby and I like to take our lunch hour here at home down in the den, watching DIRECTSTAR TV on our big screen television while eating our lunch off of TV trays. We love to look for half-hour comedy shows or a fun cooking show. Satellite TV offers us so many choices, and shorter, fun programming is just what we need to give our minds and bodies a break from the nine-to-five workday grind. Once we’re finished with our lunch, we sit back, put up our feet, and watch the second half-hour show. It gives us the little mid-day getaway rest that settles down our minds so that when we return to work, we are refreshed and ready to tackle our projects with a fresh perspective. Lunch and satellite TV–now that’s a winning combination!
